OK... so we went to Bill Glover and found a vehicle called a Pontiac Vibe. It's a red 2003 model. Think big hatchback or little SUV. Think Toyota Matrix, and by that I mean hip Toyoto Corolla. Good gas mileage (28/33), lots of room for Mikey's feet and/or groceries, building supplies, surfboards, toy lizards, etc. Take a look:

Ours is the 4-speed automatic, and it has the power locks/windows package. Outside of that I don't think it has any of the options. It does have a pretty spiffy CD player. The real pros for us were the space and the fact that Cathy feels comfortable that she will enjoy practicing driving in it; we didn't even know about the gas mileage until later.
