"The concert is going to be awesome, and I'm not just being a smarty when I say that." So said John Schlitt when we talked to him and Bob Hartman just minutes before the II Guys from Petra concert started. We had just gotten to the venue, and we could hardly wait to "Rock out" with two of our favorite band members. Our enthusiasm was not dampened a bit by the five hour drive to Thunder Bay in the middle of a major thunderstorm, or by the sandwiches that we almost swallowed whole in our rush to g...

Aug. 17th, 1995 - Jeremy Rosell

Okay, I realize that this review is eleven years behind schedule, but here it goes... It was August 17, 1995, shortly before the release of No Doubt. This was my first and only live Petra concert. I was a relatively new Pethead, and did not recognize some of the songs they played. The Christian concert was part of a carnival-type event that, honestly, was very poorly attended. I think that the promoters and the band expected a bigger crowd. I could sense some frustration in John's voice d...

This was the first of my 9 Petra shows over 10 years, the only one with Greg X. Volz. We rushed the stage during the opening chords of "Stand Up" and stayed there the entire evening. Bob Hartman even held his guitar out for a kid to strum during a song. Their music, ministry, lights and stage presence blew me away as a 16-year old non-Christian kid. So much so that later that year, I gave my heart to the Lord and even read the lyrics to "Graverobber" at my dad's funeral that summer.

This was fun! It was my first concert with Petra, and unfortunately, the last. I don't remember what songs they played, but I think they started with "Jekyll & Hyde".

I was at the concert with 3 of my friends. After the concert was finished, we all got Petra to sign our new CDs we bought before the concert....

When John, Greg, Paul and Bob came to my adopted home town of Bergen, on the west coast of Norway, November 2004, most local Petheads thought that would be their final chance to see our boys live. We were proven to be wrong. Once the announcement came that Petra was going to disband, more than just one US and overseas mind luckily started toying with the idea of a farewell tour—a chance for loyal fans to sayonara (we'll meet in heaven) a fabulous quartet that has provided so much joy and pr...

I was a little disappointed that there were so few people... about 400. The hall was also very small. The merchandise was still on the plane, I heard from Greg Bailey, but I could buy the Petra Farewell CD that evening. But when the concert started, my disappointment was completely gone! God touched me so strong on the song "Show Your Power", that I didn't even see Petra leaving the stage! The crowd sang "Show Your Power" for about 10 minutes, without stopping... and the Holy Spirit compl...

Well, this concert was only my second. :( I have been listening to them since 1991 and saw them in 1995 shortly after Bob and John Lawry had left. I don't think that I caught them at the best of times and only John Schlitt seemed to truly be trying to engage with the crowd. This time, Bob was back—no one can deny that he is the backbone of Petra and I travelled from Scotland to Holland to experience his Petra one last time.

It was one of the best decisions I have made. Not only was ...

I was young at the time and don't remember too much other than enjoying the concert and light show. I just wanted to make sure this performance was captured somewhere. I'm unsure of the date. The rodeo is usually from the end of February to mid-March. Here is the info that the Houston Rodeo's archives records:

"The rodeo star line-up in 1987 included Paul Anka, Chicago, Janie Fricke, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers Band, Crystal Gayle, Lee Greenwood, Julio Iglesias, Patti LaBelle, Re...

This was Petra's first show in Sweden since 1999 on the Greatest Hits tour. Also Bob's first time in Sweden since 1994 on the Wake-Up Call tour. The crowd (2500-crowded) was full of expectation. When the gates to the concert hall opened, there was a massive pressure. It was a little scary, because I felt that I was stepping on people that had tripped and fallen due to the pressure.

Petra did a great show, as always. It was great to see Bob back on stage again. John's voice was very good, bu...

Dec. 3rd, 2005 - Pieter Th. van Wingerden

This was my 10th Petra concert. I had seen them before at the Christmas Rock Night, back in 1999. The CRN was still held at the same venue. Petra was the closing band. We arrived just before 7 p.m. and Petra was scheduled to play at 11:30 p.m. so we had some time left. We enjoyed three other bands on the main stage before Petra would come. These bands were Spoken (from the US), Seekers Planet (a Croatian ska band) and Blinside (from Sweden). These were all pretty good shows.
