Hareball's review of This Means War!

"This Means War"-cool drums. Here is the John Schlitt that we all know and love. Ephesians 6 tells us that we fight evil spiritual forces that Jesus/Yahshua already defeated by His blood and resurrection.

"He Came He Saw He Conquered"-rocking song. The message needs to be blasted across the globe. The Messiah is Alive.

"Get On Your Knees And Fight Like A Man"-wonderful drums by Louie Weaver. The bass line is cool in this song. We need to learn to pray the perfect will of Yahveh, the living...

Hareball's review of Petra

This is the only petra album I don't have on CD or in my iTunes. I am just lazy cuz I need it to make my Petra collection. I did have the cassette tape, however, and I remember the music as being very beginner-like for Petra. Way more advanced than I could play, but they were just starting. And I could tell they were excited about Jesus....

Hannah's review of Petra Farewell

This is definitely an awesome CD. It starts with Petra fans chanting "Petra, Petra, Petra" faster and faster until you hear five drumbeats and everyone starts to cheer. Paul Simmons does a little drum roll and starts the beat, and then Bob Hartman kicks in with some pretty heavy guitar-work. "All About Who You Know" was a good choice to start off with. Bob plays some really distorted wa-wa sounds the second time they sing the chorus.

The intro to "Dance" is not as ultra-clear as the Unsee...

Brent Rawlings's review of Vertical Expressions

Vertical Expressions is a great Petra album featuring popular praise songs from the past decade. They should've called it "Petra Praise 3".

The music is softer, generally speaking, but a few songs still have the Petra rockin' feel like "Draw Me Close" and "We Fall Down". The latter is the best version I have ever heard or played of that song. I used to play in a praise band.

Its too bad that Petra weren't the first ones to record these songs when they first came out, because th...

Richard Wilson1's review of Vertical Expressions

THE best praise and worship album bar none in my opinion put out by Petra. I know, it is now just "II Guys from Petra" but still, this is the best praise and worship album that Bob and John have put together. I love every single song; it has not left my car's CD player since I purchased it. My hope is that they do more albums like this. Of course, the addition of the 2 live tracks from the farewell show are great; too bad though that they were not part of the Petra Farewell release, but a...

Hantie Jansen van Vuuren's review of Double Take

Double Take is the first Petra album I've bought in a while. I was so excited when I saw that all my favourite songs were on there. But I was very disappointed to find that they don't sound the same anymore. I don't like all the minor notes - it makes the songs depressing. Petra always sounded so happy and enthusiastic and this wasn't the case with this album....

Yohan Henry's review of More Power To Ya

One day I was about to wash the dishes and looked for some music to listen and stumbled upon PETRA! So I popped it in and I heard someone shout 1-2-3-4 and "Stand Up" blasted from my speakers. It was the More power to ya album featuring some from washes whiter than. It's my first and favorite Petra album.

The music ranges through a variety of moods and styles, from energetic message, praise, encouragement on "More Power To Ya", angst on "Judas' Kiss", etc. Greg Volz adapts easil...

Simple, clean, straight, hard hitting and hard-rocking more than any other album. No more to say. Just listen and experience the power of Petra's message like never before....

JOHN's review of Petra Praise · The Rock Cries Out

One thing's for sure, you'll never find a praise and worship album quite like this one. "I Love the Lord" and "King of Kings" are great worship rockers that make you want to sing along. "Jesus, Jesus..." is energetic but perhaps a little too fast-paced. "The Battle Belongs to the Lord" rocked out... rocks! I wish Bob had put in a little more effort for a face-melting solo, but ah well. "Take Me In" is perhaps my favorite track on the album. The way it builds up really draws you into it. "Salvati...

Paul's review of Petra

Petra's self-titled album is one of my all time favourites! Although the lyrics are "milk" like rather than the usual "meaty" stuff, it still is quite powerful, especially at times when you feel like you're backsliding ("Wake up" and "Backsliding Blues") and also for those who haven't tasted the love of Christ ("Get Back To The Bible") "I'm Not Ashamed" is quite bold considering it's a 1973 song with hardly any Christian rockers around!

Musically, it's brilliant with Hartman and Hough doing ...
